DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday 26th January there will be 2 workshops on Education\, Health and Care plan (EHCP) assessments and the development of Somerset’s Outcomes framework. The sessions have been organised by the forum and will be jointly led with the statutory SEN team managers. \nThe event will include a 10 minute update on the current EHC plans and plans for the future\, followed by 3 workshops: \n\nWorkshop one focus is the information and support that is or that needs to be available during the process of applying for an assesment\nDiscussion on the appendix A form which collects the views of children\, young people and their families. This will help us to review the current form and plan any changes that need to be made\nWorkshop looking at what are the key outcomes\, which will ensure that children and young people have a good life. This information will be used to help shape the framework to measure the effectiveness of the work undertaken to make improvements.\n\nYou can book these sessions below. Please be aware that these events will not provide an opportunity to review individual cases and you will need to follow the normal process to do that. If you are not sure how to do this please email us and we will signpost you to the relevant department.

DESCRIPTION:SEND Law Training for Parent Carers is tailored to the main issues parent carers are facing in your area as identified through a pre-training exercise\, it will also cover:\n• The legislative framework for supporting children and young people with SEND\n• The legal duties of local authorities and schools / FE colleges and other settings\n• Education\, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments and reassessments\n• The content of EHC plans\, including naming a placement and amending a plan\n• Annual reviews\n• Appealing to the SEND Tribunal\n• An introduction to the Equality Act 2010\, including the duty to make reasonable adjustments\n• The law on exclusions\n• The temporary legislative changes arising from Covid-19 (if currently applicable) \nWe only have limited spaces for the session.
