DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday 26th January there will be 2 workshops on Education\, Health and Care plan (EHCP) assessments and the development of Somerset’s Outcomes framework. The sessions have been organised by the forum and will be jointly led with the statutory SEN team managers. \nThe event will include a 10 minute update on the current EHC plans and plans for the future\, followed by 3 workshops: \n\nWorkshop one focus is the information and support that is or that needs to be available during the process of applying for an assesment\nDiscussion on the appendix A form which collects the views of children\, young people and their families. This will help us to review the current form and plan any changes that need to be made\nWorkshop looking at what are the key outcomes\, which will ensure that children and young people have a good life. This information will be used to help shape the framework to measure the effectiveness of the work undertaken to make improvements.\n\nYou can book these sessions below. Please be aware that these events will not provide an opportunity to review individual cases and you will need to follow the normal process to do that. If you are not sure how to do this please email us and we will signpost you to the relevant department.

DESCRIPTION:The Community Equipment and Wheelchair service are currently being recommissioned and we are looking to work with a group of parents who have used the service previously. \n \nThe group will review the applications to provide the service and take part in a focus group discussion on Friday 26th November 12-1. All participants will need to sign a confidentiality agreement not to discuss the applications outside of the group (due to this being a legal process). \nA representative from SPCF will let meet with commissioners on Monday 29th November to feedback the groups views. \nIf you are interested please contact us by midday Wednesday 24th November. SUMMARY:Dynamic Support Register information design session
DESCRIPTION:Local NHS services must understand the needs of people with a learning disability\, autism or both in their area\, so that they can make sure people receive the right support. It is importance that services know the people who are likely to need additional support so that they don’t end up being admitted to mental health or learning disability hospitals unnecessarily. \nThere is a requirement for clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) to develop and maintain registers to identify people with a learning disability\, autism or both who display\, or are at risk of developing\, behaviour that challenges or mental health conditions who were most likely to be at risk of admission. \nSomerset has recently developed a dynamic support register and they want to raise awareness and understanding of the register. We are looking for a small group of parents to review the draft documents which have been put together by the CCG based on national versions. DESCRIPTION:Our parent support groups are a great way to meet other parents for practical and emotional support. These are face-to-face groups but if restrictions are imposed\, we switch to virtual ones. Our support groups are run by parents and carers of children with additional needs. \nOur groups offer: \n\nFriendship\nOpportunities to socialise\nInformation and advice\nEmotional and moral support\nA listening ear\n\nAll our groups are open to parents and carers of children (0-25) with any additional need and or disability. We know families need support as early as possible\, so we do not need your child to have received a diagnosis for you to attend. These are face-to-face groups but if restrictions are imposed\, we switch to virtual ones. Our support groups are run by parents and carers of children with additional needs. \nOur groups offer: \n\nFriendship\nOpportunities to socialise\nInformation and advice\nEmotional and moral support\nA listening ear\n\nAll our groups are open to parents and carers of children (0-25) with any additional need and or disability. We know families need support as early as possible\, so we do not need your child to have received a diagnosis for you to attend. DESCRIPTION:We would like to hear your thoughts and experiences of accessing support for children who have communication needs and /or autism in Somerset. \nOur focus areas are the support from the autism and communication service  (specialist teachers) and the Children’s Autism Outreach Team (CAOT). Things have changed over the last 18 months with covid and the introduction of a multiagency interim service to assess for autism. We want to hear your views to ensure they are meeting the current local need. \nWe want to know: \n\nIf money were no object what would the perfect service look like?\nWhat is working well?\nWhat could be better?\n\nThe sessions are open to anyone with an interest in this area to come together at one of 2 sessions.
