DESCRIPTION:Work has been taking place to develop a clear\, concise\, accessible & user-friendly framework that outlines provision for pupils with SEND in Somerset\, and is in line with the guidance in the Special Education Needs & Disabilities (SEND) Code of Practice 2015.\nThe revised Core Standards will provide parent/carers\, educational settings & other professionals with information to understand the type of support and provision a child or young person with SEND may require in order to meet their needs and ensure educational progress is made. As such\, the revised Core Standards will support consistency in SEND provision across Somerset. \n \nDuring this event you will get to see the work so far and be able to feed your views into the process. DESCRIPTION:This event runs from 11:30am till 12:15pm \nJoin us to learn more about ADHD. The session with be lead by Somerset’s educational psychology service. \nAttention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a condition that affects people’s behaviour. People with ADHD can seem restless\, may have trouble concentrating and may act on impulse. \nSymptoms of ADHD tend to be noticed at an early age and may become more noticeable when a child’s circumstances change\, such as when they start school. \nMost cases are diagnosed when children are 3 to 7 years old\, but sometimes it’s diagnosed later in childhood. \nSometimes ADHD was not recognised when someone was a child\, and they are diagnosed later as an adult. \nThe symptoms of ADHD usually improve with age\, but many adults who were diagnosed with the condition at a young age continue to experience problems. \nPeople with ADHD may also have additional problems\, such as sleep and anxiety disorders. \nRegistration is via the link below

DESCRIPTION:Our parent support groups are a great way to meet other parents for practical and emotional support. These are face-to-face groups but if restrictions are imposed\, we switch to virtual ones. Our support groups are run by parents and carers of children with additional needs. \nOur groups offer: \n\nFriendship\nOpportunities to socialise\nInformation and advice\nEmotional and moral support\nA listening ear\n\nAll our groups are open to parents and carers of children (0-25) with any additional need and or disability. We know families need support as early as possible\, so we do not need your child to have received a diagnosis for you to attend. If you are nervous about attending\, please give us a call on 01458 259384 or 07543 680365. We will be happy to have a conversation in advance and arrange to meet you. \n

DESCRIPTION:This event is running from 9:30am till 10:15am \nKooth is a free\, interactive website for children and young people\, accessible on all devices. \nIt is a safe\, confidential online mental health service where young people and adults can receive counselling\, advice and support for their emotional well-being. \nKooth delivers thousands of counselling sessions each year in local authorities across the UK to young people. \nAs it can be difficult to find the right support for young people with lower-level mental health needs\, Kooth also gives doctors a way of making sure patients can access free support when they need it\, in a way young people know and use. \nThe therapy team are qualified counsellors and psychotherapists. They work closely together to ensure the best outcomes for young people.
