Over the summer and Autumn of 2017 Somerset Parent Carer Forum worked with Somerset County Council to collect views on how a Department for Education capital funding bid should be used. Through a series of roadshows, social media discussions and an online survey views of Somerset families were collected. Thank you to everyone who took part.
As a result of those consultation activities, Somerset County Council will be using its allocation to deliver a range of facility improvement projects at mainstream schools over the 3 years and works will include lifts, accessible toilets, wet rooms and therapy suites.
The year one allocation will be used to deliver projects at two mainstream schools in Yeovil.
The allocations for years two and three will be allocated closer to the time and this document and the image below, will be revised to reflect updated plans at regular intervals.
In addition to the DfE Special Provision Capital Fund allocation, Somerset County Council will also be investing a significant amount of its own capital funding in additional specialist places around the county.
