Coronavirus update 20th March 2020

Statement from the Directors and Steering group

We understand that this is a challenging situation for everyone currently, but for families of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities it will bring additional challenges.

We wanted to let you know that following the recent government advice we have moved to working remotely and the office is currently closed. We are still here for families and are looking at ways we can continue to provide information and signposting during this time. We can be contacted via our social media pages, emails and our website. You can leave a message at 01458 259384 which we can access remotely and will endeavour to call you back.

We know that for many the information that has been coming from central government has not always been clear. We want to assure you that we are working with both the LA and CCG to ensure that information is being supplied to local families in a way that can be easily understood.

We have also set up a dedicated area on our website which can signpost you to information and resources, www.somersetparentcarerforum.org.uk/covid-19. This includes links to activities to keep young ones entertained, local and nation support lines, websites and practical resources provided by a variety of individuals and teams.

Keeping connected with others during the period of social distancing or self-isolation may be challenging. You can join our online support group finding you way on Facebook and we are currently working on ways to hold virtual coffee mornings.

All of us at the team send our best wishes at this difficult time.
