During the event clinics will be available with the following professionals:
Designated Clinical Officer (Shona Turnbull-Kirk):Designated Clinical Officers play a key role in implementing the Children and Families Act reforms and supporting joined up working between health services and local authorities. These 15-minute allocated slots are to discuss the medical support your child in receiving.
Educational Psychologist (Kate Lee) : Kate is a senior Educational Psychologist within the Support Services for Education. Kate will be holding 15 minutes discussions with parents on a 1-1 basis to help with ideas of how to support their child’s additional needs.
SEND casework Clinic:Throughout the assessment process the SEND Casework Officer is a really important contact for the family. They oversee the whole process and will support parents, carers and young people to make sure they understand it. They will tell them, through letters, phone calls and meetings if required, about how long things will take and about panel outcomes.
These clinics will be 1-1 conversations about the process and your child/young person.
SENDIAS Clinic:Somerset SENDIAS (Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Information, Advice and Support) can give children, young people (aged 0 to 25) and their parent carers information, advice and support about SEND. This can include information on Education, Health and Care (EHC) Needs Assessments and Plans.
Somerset SENDIAS is an information, advice and support service for:parent carers of children and young people (aged 0 to 25) with SEND and children and young people (aged 0 to 25) with SEND.
They are a free, confidential and independent service.
Service Manager Autism and Communication service clinic: Angela Williams works for Somerset County Council as the Lead for Autism within the area. She is keen to hear from local families about their experiences of current services.
Each clinic session will be 15 minutes and be a 1 to 1 session to discuss your individual circumstances.
