The Engagement and Participation team for Somerset County Council was put in place to help children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities get their voice heard.
The team is made up of an Engagement and Participation Officer and Young People’s Champion’s who have special educational needs and or a dissability.
The team asks lots of different young people what they think in may duifferent ways. They visit young people across the county in schools, colleges and other groups.
The team also hosts a forum named “the Unstoppables” once a month, in either Yeovil or Taunton, for young people between 13 and 25.
The team asks young people what they think on a wide range of different issues. They share these vies and opinions with lots of different decision-makers and practitioners to improve services in Somerset.
The team also consult and share information through the Facebook page.
