Our Purpose
We are here to make sure parent carers in Somerset are heard.

Our role is to help ensure that local education, health and care services truly reflect the needs of families.
We are independent of the NHS, the Local Authority and other services, so parent carers can speak to us openly, honestly and with confidence about their experiences.
We work in partnership with a wide range of organisations to help shape and improve services. By listening to families and sharing their views, we aim to improve the experiences, opportunities and outcomes for children and young people with additional needs or disabilities.
At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief:
families should be involved in the decisions that affect them.
Support when you need it

As parent carers ourselves, we understand how hard things can feel at times. There can be so much information to take in, and it’s not always clear where to start. Sometimes, you just need to talk to someone who truly gets it.
We offer a range of information and support for parent carers across Somerset. This includes friendly meet-ups where you can connect with other parents, practical workshops to help you find the information you need, and a dedicated phone line where you can talk things through with one of our parent representatives.
Everything we offer is run by parent carers with lived experience, so you’ll be supported by people who understand what you’re going through.
You can find out more about parent carer forums and what they do by watching the short video below.
