Parent Carer Representative
Parent Carer Representatives attend a range of meetings and events to share what it it like for parent carers in Somerset. They use anonymous feedback that we have collected to show the impact of services on families. Parent representatives are also vital in support the forum at events and within a range of projects.
SEND Navigator – East Somerset
SEND navigators play a vital role in the work of Somerset Parent Carer Forum CIC by helping families in Somerset to access good quality information, understand their entitlements and help them to access these.
You’ll be helping to guide and support parent carers in their journey by building networks of community support, building relationships and working in partnership with families and professionals to improve outcomes for the child and family.
The navigator will work in different areas of the county during the project with the aim of supporting parent carers to build an information and support network in their locality, based either in the school or community.
Terms and Conditions
• Start date: As soon as possible
• Contract type: Fixed term until July 2028 (subject to funding)
• Probation period: six months
• Pay: £14 per hour
• Hours: 20 hours per week, over 3 days (term-time plus – 40 weeks/year)
• Location: Covering East Somerset, including Yeovil, Wincanton, Somerton, Castle Cary and Frome (with travel across Somerset and 1 office day per week in Yeovil)
• Holiday: 5.6 weeks annual leave (including public/bank holidays), pro-rata
